I think that a promiscuous man is just as bad as a woman like him. However, men don't want women that have been around. It is the old double-standard that a woman can't do what a man does and still be a lady. i don't think it will ever change.

Promiscuity is frowned upon because those who "give out" far too easily often lack self-respect. If you're a girl, and guys want a "piece of the action", they'll encourage you that it's alright. They'll neither love you nor respect you, although they'll say they do. They'll tell other boys that you're easy, and you'll feel probably popular, but for all the wrong reasons. Most likely they'll laugh about you behind your back with the other guys and girls. You don't want that kind of reputation. Young people can be cruel. They'll use it against you.
Society, through the media, may give the impression that it's cool to be promiscius, but sadly it's still frowned upon. Evidence lies even with those who should be considered adults. If you "give out" and you suddenly don't want that kind of attention, they'll throw it back in your face. I've seen it happen even online. If you're a strong-minded individual who can handle that kind of attention, then do it. If not, don't.
The media sells "sex" per se, to make money. Paris Hilton is so not a good role model. She's deviant because she can afford to be. Guys her age don't care. Oh yeah, they might even want to be seen in the teen mags beside her, they might get laid more. hah! Also, she's got money. Teen magazines are nothing but "teen porn" and gossip of celebrities. Some of what is written are true, but most are not. Journalists/writers write what can sell. And sex sells.
It has been said that "those who lack intellect, are those who use their bodies to attract their opposite gender with sex". It's not just about abstinence from sex, it's about being real with yourself, and knowing who you are, what you want from life.

Promiscuity is frowned upon because of all the STD's out there and all the date rape drugs and psycho's out there...you never know what's going to happen anymore; and I think society is thinking of his/her daughters and sons. We don't want them to get hurt or worse.
And yes sex sells. But there's a difference between watching sexy commercials and sex in the movies, and actually going out there and sleeping with any and everybody you feel the urge to be with. It's harmless to get stimulated be watching it, but a lot of harm can come to you by sleeping around. You take the wrong person home and you could end up in the newspaper obituary.
(even if your very careful, things happen)
And I agree about Paris Hilton, I wouldn't have been able to read a mag with her on it when I was a kid. But she isn't just getting sexy attention, she's well known for her utter stupidity.

Promiscuity is frowned upon because it brings instability, which in turn brings chaos.
The media is all about bringing chaos...so why would it show anything else?
Yes...the messages are mixed. Actually, they're in opposition to each other. The media glorifies promiscuous girls/women so that younger women will idolize them and go out to do some of the same things...which brings instability and chaos to the fabric of society.

Promiscuity should not be supported by anyone. There are so many STD's out there, and some of them are transmittable even with a condom.
Those mixed messages are what keeps women appearance focused and in the victim role. We are told by those images that we need to dress sexy, but if you're raped or harrassed it's "Why was she dressed like that, anyway."

In a perfect world without jealousy and disease it wouldn't matter. Modesty or self respect can be attractive also. Some might like an easy person, others wouldn't like sloppy seconds and left-overs. People who are uninhibited might not even think about the consequences or even care because they don't think it can happen to them. Their judgments are way off.

Being promiscuis is using the promise of sex as a manipulation
technique and/or to feel valued because of the attention the seeker recieves.
Paris is an adult and can afford to do what she wants to, perhaps she was given too much attention for being rich so she wanted to be desired physically as well, I'm sure her rebellion got her alot of attention from her family.

She is a terrible role model. Girls who are sexually active at a young age have problems. They are desperate for male approval and have low self esteem. In Hiton's case, she is not a teen and she is not very bright. She will do anything for publicity.
Society does not approve because it is a dangerous life style for a young girl.

Just remember if you want to be "slutty" it gets expensive, I should know, condoms, birth control, std testing, nappy clothes the list goes on. Now there is a real reason to stay pure!
