Has somebody tried to shave his face using only shaving oil instead of the traditional shaving foam? If you did and you were successful. Could you please tell me your technique. A couple of weeks ago and for the first time , I saw a bottle of shaving oil in the shelf where the shaving foam are located.. It claims to give the best shave. far better than shaving foam..... I want to know your comments

Great question. For the past 24 years of shaving (wow) I have tried all types of techniques. I have sensitive skin so i have had my share of flops that lead to irritation, burns and cuts. I have narrow this down to a science. Keep in mind every one's skin type is different and may react in there own way. Older Men will always look younger than their female counter parts of the same age. That's due to the fact each time we run the blade across our face we remove a layer of dead skin, which renews every time.
so here's me technique:
1. Always prep you face with a scrubber.Like a "Buff Puff". While in the shower every day scrub you face, gently. The day I don't scrub is the day after I have shaven.Just to give the face time to replenish. Be sure the soap you use has moisturizer in it. regular soap can dry out your skin fast.
2.I like the gel type shaving creams, cause it doesn't get to fluffy. Too much air in the cream doesn't allow the blade to get to close. I some times i add a tiny bit of water with the gel cream to make the gel a bit slippery. Now I also used baby oil mixed with soap, that's worked great. Its left my skin really soft. (My wife digs that).

3.Blades- Its getting ridiculous with all these creative blade systems,3,4,5,6 blades! Vibrating blades? All good in theory but not really practical. Here's why:
I like a 2 or 3 blade at the most, with a lube strip and ribbed fins. When you get into the 4, 5 or 6 blade, its designed to go over your face once, for speed.Well our facial hair doesn't grow all in the same direction. So , we need to go over a few times just to get those areas unique spots.Imagine going over the same area several times with 4,5,6 blade? You ll need a skin graph to replace your skin.
go luck.

Well, I shave my legs instead of my face, but...

With oil, my legs feel much smoother, but the razor clogs something awful and doesn't rinse as well.

shaving cream please. easily, i exploit no longer something now, or only cleansing soap. they prey on the lack of information of maximum adult males, promising smooter pores and skin, closer shaves etc, while in fact, all they do is tutor you the place your final stroke replaced into. it somewhat is extra suitable to shave interior the bathe after your face is thouroghly soaked.
