voting would be much easier if there was better information being passed out in the news. Or if flyers were posted a couple of weeks ahead of time so that people could read and understand all the wordings.

No's on every one .... California charges a small fortune in taxes and has the fourth poorest schools in the U.S. We have the worst maintained roads and the best dressed politicians.
If they can't manage all the money we're paying them now, what makes you think they'll do any better if we give them more?
This time do what Nancy Reagan said to do,
" Just Say No"!!!

Proposition 1A—Transportation Funding Protection: Vote YES (This proposition does not increase taxes. It just assures that the taxes collected from motor vehicle fuels is used for transportation funding only. There is no opposition to this proposition)
Proposition 1B—Highway Safety, Traffic Reduction, … Bond Act: Vote YES (Although is it a general obligation bond—more government spending—the money is needed to upgrade the highways and roads. Supported by the AAA, the Republican party and the Democrat Party)
Proposition 1C—Housing and Emergency Shelter Trust Fund Act: Vote NO (Another government spending which won’t have any real impact on increasing affordable housing. Opposed by various tax payer associations and the Republican Party)
Proposition 1D—Kindergarten-University Public Education Bond: Vote YES (Yes, another government spending but at least this one is for a good cause with real impact. Supported by the Democratic Party, and the Governor. The Republican Party is neutral on this issue)
Proposition 1E—Disaster Preparedness and Flood Prevention Bond: Vote YES (Supported by the Republican Party and the Democratic Party)
Proposition 83—Sex Offenders and Sexually violent Predators Punishment: Vote YES (Prohibits sex offenders from living near schools and parks. Requires global positioning system monitoring of sex offenders. Supported by the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. Opposed by child molesters, rapists, and the ACLU)
Proposition 84—Water Quality, Safety and Supply Bond: Neutral (While improving water quality and safety is important, the bond measure means more government spending. This measure is supported by the environmental groups and the Democratic Party and is opposed by tax payer associations and the Republican Party)
Proposition 85—Parental Notification Before Termination of Minor’s Pregnancy: Vote YES (Any surgical procedure performed on a minor child requires not only the notification but the consent of a parent or guardian. Prop 85 requires 48-hour parental notification before a minor can terminate a pregnancy. Exemptions can be granted by a judge. This law makes sense. Supported by the Republican Party and parents who care for the safety of their children.)
Proposition 86—Tax on Cigarettes: Vote YES (Probably the most important initiative in this election. Prop 86 will raise the tax on cigarettes by $2.60/pack. Numerous economic studies in peer-reviewed journals have documented that every 10% increase in the price of cigarettes will reduce overall cigarette consumption by 5%, reduce the number of young-adult smokers by about 3.5%, and reduce the number of kids who smoke by about 6-7%. Proposition 86 will prevent more than 700,000 kids from becoming smokers, save 300,000 lives from smoking related deaths and will save nearly $16.5 billion in healthcare costs. The tobacco companies are spending $60,000,000 to defeat this proposition. They claim that only 10% of the money raised will go toward helping smokers quit. The fact is that the raise in cigarettes taxes is the most effective way to help smokers quit. Don’t listen to the tobacco companies’ lies. Vote YES on Proposition 86. Prop 86 is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, American Heart Association, California Heart Association, The Children’s Partnership, and American College of Emergency Physicians. Supported by the Democratic Party, the League of Women Voters, and many other groups.)
Proposition 87—Tax on California Oil Producers, Alternative Energy Funding: Vote NO (While the idea of reducing our need on oil is good, the proposition is misguided. It will tax California oil producers. That means more oil will be imported rather than produced in CA. This will lead to higher prices which can be passed on to consumers. Furthermore, the $4 billion raised from this measure does not guarantee any results. Democrats (except for Clinton and Gore) are against it, Republicans are against it. Environmentalists are for it.)
Proposition 88—Education Funding: Vote NO (A new statewide property tax which is opposed by the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, the tax payer associations, California Federation of Teachers, League of Women Voters and many other organizations.)
Proposition 89—Corporate Tax Increase for Public Funding of Political Campaigns: Vote NO (Opposed by the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, taxpayer groups, small and large businesses and non-profit organizations)
Proposition 90—Government Acquisition of Private Property: Vote NO (It has to deal with eminent domain. Opposed by the Democratic Party, the environmental groups, and city councils.)
