i recently had i cornsnake that wouldnt eat for me and after a little over a month, i put her in snake rehabilitation and they discovered she had internal parasites. She died about a month later and now i have a cali kingsnake who i put in the same cage. i cleaned the cage about a week and a half before i gave the cornsnake to rehab but forgot to clean it after that besides new bedding and water. Is there any chance my new kingsnake might get parasites from the cage? i have cleaned it all out now but she was in there about a week before i did...

Internal parasites are fairly hard to pass on to other animals, it's passed on through feces etc... so as long as the new snake isn't crawling through the corn snake's crap, you shouldn't have a problem. The really irritating parasites are mites. They spread easily and are VERY hard to get rid of, even if you clean the cage thoroughly. Internal parasites shouldn't be an issue though.

It may have already had the parasites and it just took a while to kill it, or it may have gotten them from something it was fed. I suspect any parasites from its bedding or cage would be more of an external parasite like scale-ticks or mites. Internal parasites seem more likely to come from food flying insects.
A vet should be able to specify their source.

How do you even know that your new snake didn't come with parasites? Get a vet to check it.
