Hello everyone! I have posted several questions in the past 3 months since my daughter got molested by a 10 year old neighbor. I just wanted to update those of you on how our trial went today! The judge found the 10 year old guilty of 2nd degree sexual assault and sentenced him to an indefinite probation period stating that 2 years wasn't long enough and that HE would determine when the probation period would end! He also laid out some very strict rules for the 10 y/o's family to follow - such as a 7pm curfew, no alone time with ANY other children including his siblings, no more spending the night with anyone other than grandparents, a community risk assessment to determine his risk of committing this crime again, no more being tardy to school, no more unexcused absences at school, a "'C" average or better in school, etc.... Justice was served today and to all of those who have been praying for us, please know that your prayers were answered today in the form of a GUILTY verdict!

i'm glad you got a conclusion that offered you some type of closure. i'm hopeful that your child is seeing a child therapist at the perpetrator's expense to offset any issues that may arise in the future.
peace.

I have followed your questions since you first asked what the difference was between 2nd degree and 3rd degree sexual assault! I am so thankful to hear that they found him guilty! It is very rare to find a parent such as yourself who is willing to believe their child and then do whatever it takes to seek out justice! You have absolutely done the right thing by getting her therapy and then making sure every step was taken to get the 10 year old the help he obviously needed and was being denied by his parents! Did they try to use the "He was playing doctor" thing in court? If they did, then there is no doubt why the judge found him guilty! Congrats and I will most definitely continue my prayers for you and your family!

Just saw your current post.
In the Richmond, Va area there is a "Stop Child Abuse Now" (SCAN) program. Similar programs are in other localities. SCAN offer free counciling to victims and their families on how to deal with issues related to the abuse. SCAN will even provide free transportation to their services.
SCAN provides free medical personnel (psychologists, etc) who specialize only in sex abuse cases.
Research has shown, that the sooner you can get help the less trauma and the shorter the adjustment period.
In many states, there is also a Victim Rights Law - where victims can sign up to be notified anytime the offender is due back in court or at a probation/parole hearing - so that the victim can either attend the meeting or summit comments to by considered by the hearing officials. Contact your court to sign up.

It's nice to know that SOMEWHERE in America the justice system still works and still gets things right once in a while! Congrats on the guilty verdict! Go out celebrate and put this terrible mess behind you. May you, your daughter,and the rest of your family live a normal, healthy, happy life! My prayers will forever be with you!

Listen, I am going to post this in open room, because I understand your daughter's pain as a 3 year old.
Before I do that, I want to state this ten year old needs more than just probation. He needs serious counseling to find the root of his sexual molestation. I think we need to prayer for him too.
The issue I am about to post in open room here, is that I was molested at the age of 5 by a 16 year old. It boardered on rape really. I had no mother to turn to (she is a scarey woman and I was afraid she would spank me) and my father was gone, abandoned us, really.
There is a lot more to my story that would make your skin crawl. Yet, I am not going to share the rest of it. I am blessed to be alive, lets just live it at that.
I would never, and I MEAN NEVER, harm a child in a sexaul way. Nor, do I want too. So don't take this the wrong way when I say that I feel sorry for this 10 year old as well. We must look at this ten year old, as a ten year old. The Judge did the right thing in many regards, but this child needs to start talking about what happened to him to provoke this behavior. We have got to stop the abuse at the core. It is hard to understand what I am trying to say here, but if you do not get a potential molester to start empathizing at a young age with other people and how molestation has effected them, they will bury it so deeply, they will never heal and may molest again or do something worse than that.
Please, always talk to your daughter about her feelings in regards to what happened to her and give her lots of love, understanding and support.
Take Care

Who have been the widespread individuals of the JW’s that we responsible of homosexuality, spouse swapping and toddler molesting as suggested via the WT$? no longer long after Ewart C. Chitty and Leo ok. Greenlees resigned from the Governing physique of the WBT$ right here replaced into revealed:- “stunning as this is, even some who've been widespread in Jehovah’s business enterprise have succumbed to immoral practices, which contain homosexuality, spouse swapping, and toddler molesting. (w86 a million/a million p.13) How ought to 2 supposedly anointed adult men be responsible of such activities?

I am sooooo totally happy for you. Good job Mom-You are a terrific mother. I am so sorry that you have had to go through all of this. Hug that daughter of yours in loving thoughts for me. Have a terrific life from now on-one with love, laughter, and happiness. She will probably be better off than most because she will learn who to trust and who to ditch. **********:}
