On Monday, Bush jetted to a conservative corner of Florida's Panhandle, about as far as he could get from the state's three in-play House districts. To the White House's embarrassment and irritation, Republican Charlie Crist, whom Bush came to help in his bid to succeed the president's brother as governor, decided at the last minute to skip the chance to be by the president's side.

If you are right wing or left wing, wouldn't you distance yourself from this administration?

I suspect it may be that Mr. Crist may have differing views as to the substance of the campaign. Possibly he feels that Mr. Bush was not strict enough on immigration, which is not necessarily uncommon among the GOP members.

Any publicity is good publicity - maybe he figured he would get more press if he didn't stand with Mr. Bush than if he did.

He doesn't trust him either.

Charlie Christ spent more money on his advertising campaign for this election than anyone else in the US, $6 million. It was on our local news here in FL.

I don't trust Charlie Christ either. He's been in office for several years, and has done nothing. In his political ads, he keeps saying what he is going to do. He had his chance.

Bush is bad news for candidates. His popularity rating is the lowest any Pres has ever had and no politician wants it to rub off on him. Most won't even admit to being Repubs.
