Sweet 16, Quince, or Bats Mitsva. You should allow her to experience it then, but not regularly. If you deny her totally, you alienate her, if you allow it all the time, you loose control. It really isn't healthy for the nail bed though, and it can stunt strong, healthy, natural nails. Don't forget to always remind her of the beautiful person she is.

First off check to see if your school allows the girls to wear fake nails. I know when my child was in grade school they didn't allow that because of the possible injuries. With that being said, I did allow my daughter at age 11 during the summer break get acrylic nails. They lasted two weeks. She ended up not liking them and didn't want to go back for a fill.
She is now 13 and still has no desire for them, it could just be personal preference on her part.

Fake nails are no good. If you don't get them touched up or taken off every 2 weeks bacteria can get underneath them and cause problems. Because of that problem not only are they not really hygienic but also expensive habit for a very younger girl of 11.
I would wait till she is atleast 15 to get something like that done. just buy her press ons for now.

Ithink that is your decison, just make sure to go to a good nail salon. The electric rotary files use in some are not good for your nails & rarely cleaned properly, it is very easy to get a nail infection that way so just make sure you go to a good reputable salon, the tips will cost you more but you won't have to go to the doctor later.

I dont think thats really appropriate for an 11yo.
Personally, I am sick and tired of watching little girls trying to make themselves look more like the older girls. If you let her get fake nails, chances are that she'll want makeup and diff clothes (if that hasnt already happened). Dont let your daughter turn into an 11yo beauty queen. its not cute, its really REALLY creepy.
wait until she's at least 13 or 14

My granddaughter has had nails put on at the salon for a couple of years now. She is now 13. She likes them and they make her feel good about herself. On the other hand, she starts taking them off after a couple of days. She enjoys sports and they don't fit her lifestyle very well.

I have 4 girls and all are grown up now I have grand babys almost that age. I set a age of 13 before they could wear lite make up and shave leg ect... But if ever thing else is in order I look at it now as playing dress up. It is the motive behind it that makes the differents only you know.

I think 11 is too young. I would think that 16 would be about the right age to start these cosmetic things.
