It's good. I don't know that it's better, but I see more homes with ADT protection, than Brinks.

There is virtually no difference. It's all up to how much you are willing to pay, and your desired "peace of mind". A burgular is going to break in if he/she really wants to. The alarm is just there as a deterrent. You can install an alarm yourself (classes at home depot / radio shack) and then pay for monitoring services. The most effective theft deterrent is a smart homeowner.

Put alarm signs in your front yard, put alarm stickers on your windows. Put blinds on your windows so that no one can see in (eliminates the desire to steal those fancy gadgets they can see from the outside).

According to the company The Best Guard .com out of Hollywood, Florida, both companies are good. The value with going with anyone of these companies are the prices of their installation and monitoring fees.
