My parents we're Macedonian, my father would tell me a story about a mosquito and a fly called: Kalli-Mulli-Op-Stropp (the noise the mosquito would make with his trumpet like nose). What story was important to your upbringing?

I'm of English descent, and "Dick Whittington and his Cat" was an important story to me. And all the Kipling "Just So Stories for Little Children" and his two "Jungle Books." Also L. Frank Baum's Oz books (the ones actually written by Baum himself).

I am a sri lankan and from the younger days a girl was taught how to have a good marriage life and the importance of being a humble wife. So we were taught of the countess Vishakha who was a follower of Lord Buddha. Her story is beautiful and she also happens to be the model of a good wife a daughter in law and mother.

The story of the resurrection How the daffodils die each winter and come back in the spring, the star of the daffodil is to remind us of the star of Bethlehem that guided the kings. and the white of the daffodil to remind us of the purity of the Lord. Totally understood how restrrection happened after this. My mom told me this story.

I wish I had a neat cultural story. Most of the stories from my family were either from the bible or anecdotes about my relatives.

my mom used to scare us w/ the "tulivieja" who had a baby that died so she would steel other kids. I think it is well known throughout the latin american countries.

my grandma always told us about the outhouse they had, and having to clean up after her dad when he got pissy drunk and passed out in the kitchen...
