A report by Evangelical Alliance published this week says "violent revolution" should be regarded as a viable response if government legislation encroaches on their religious rights. smkwtrjck - I absolutely agree with your answer. There is a point where violent overthrow of a rogue government would be justified. But, this group is not threatening violent overthrow to protect their rights. They are threatening overthrow if legislation is passed that protects the rights of OTHERS, such as gay marriage and school prayer. That is wrong. And, that is a crime against this nation and the founding principles of our democracy.

This is all news to me. Considering the population of America has now reached the 300 million mark, they better be prepared for the majority.

Good Grief, yes they have guns and are armed to overthrow the government. Why are you taking this statement so literal? If you went to church you would understand what this is talking about. There is a very old song "Onward Christian Soldiers," and it`s words are about being a soldier for Christ going onward into battle. It means you fight against evil with good, not go and take up actual arms and do something like this. Yes it is taught in Sunday school to the young so they will grow up to hopefully be a good Christian. Get a grip. This is how rumors are started. Disobeying the law has to do with the fight against partial birth abortion, and regaining rights to say prayer in school, fight to keep the crosses from being taken down on the veterans cemetaries, and pornography among others. The movement is fought in court not in the streets Chicken Little.

and your link to the NAE says nothing about violent overthrow.

Obviously you have not read the preamble to the Declaration of Independence.
Here it is, pay particular attention to the last line. which says it is your duty to throw off a government that has become despotic.
If a government encroaches on the 1st amendment right to freedom of religion, then it has become despotic.

Having read the article its obvious you dont get it. Not anyplace did they mention use of brute force. OH MY GOD! THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE OVER AMERICA AND KILL PEOPLE WITH PRAYERS .

When someone says, "Dont let the cat out of the bag", do you really think they are talking about a cat??? Americans use figurative language every day. And the article you furnished does not even remotely suggest Evangelicals go into a literal war / revolt against the government. LOL

NOTE: The Jesus Camp children are not training with weapons - THIS IS A FACT! They are training to be spiritual warriors, not to go out killing. Muslims do that in Palestine with their kids, geesh. These kids spiritual weapons are prayer, faith and the Bible. Those do not kill, bruise or otherwise harm anyone. Or do you lack understanding and simply taking whats said out of context?

umm i'd like to actually see this so-called report by the evangelical alliance. the big thing with the evangelical church now is that a big minister who led this mega-church has just come out to say that he participated in a lot of illegal activities.

30 million? It would surprise me if AARP has that many members.

Look, Mortimer, there are only about 300 million people in the US. Half of them can't vote. Half of those that can, don't. If out of that 75 million, 30 million are these guys, they don't NEED violence to take over.

You should do more research before making up crap.

This denomination is really quite fanatical.. I am amazed so many people belong, and even more amazed how many strange things go on within it. No wonder they want so much power.. they don't want to be investigated.
But no church should ever have influence on government, it is not right. They should stay within their church and not try to influence anyone.. clean up their own back yards first, i say.
