In one ad they had a sexy voiced woman act like a sex hot line babe. The Democrat in question had an aide misdial a number to
Washington DC. Same number only wrong area code. The mistake cost tax payers $1.25. The ad made it look like the candidate had called a sex line number when he had not, and of course the Republicans knew it. He had not spent taxpayers money talking to a 1 800 sex babe. The Republicans ran an ad with a blond white woman saying " call me" to senator to be Harold Ford, implying that being black, all he wanted to do was to have sex with a white woman. How much more racist can you get? Finally, they ran an ad that said that democrats wanted to abort black babies. Democrats have had their share of attack ads as well, but the Republicans are masters at it. That is why they are in power. Republicans claim to be the party of moral authority. Can this be true when they will say anything to cling to power?

lanani: I was quoting others who said the ad was racist(political analysts). Come on, babe, grow up. Tennessee is a Southern state. In the ad you have a white woman asking a black single prominent man to call her. Karl Rove may be sleazy and gay, but he is not stupid. He knows the hot button issues in each state. Hell, interracial dating doesn't bother me. I'm from Oregon. But, it does have an impact in the South.

Sleaze is why Republicans are in power. They are simply better at it than Democrats. And, they have more funding.

With the forced resignation of Donald Rumsfeld, the house of cards is finally falling and the attack ads won't mean a thing. Do join your neighbors at the polls tomorrow and monitor your feeings about having to use the Republican owned phony voting machines.

Without a receipt and control of the inner workings of the machines, there's no what to know whether your vote was recorded or not.

Plus, it is a private company that counts the votes and not Election Officials. Call your board of elections the next day and COMPLAIN like a TRUE AMERICAN!

Hello.... sleazy election ads are not limited to Republicans. Both parties are guilty of creating nasty ads to smear their opponents. If you really think Republicans are the only ones who make attack ads, you've got your head in the sand.

And I fail to see how the Harold Ford ad was racist. I think you must have been watching the cable news networks.

"The Republicans ran an ad with a blond white woman saying " call me" to senator to be Harold Ford, implying that being black, all he wanted to do was to have sex with a white woman. How much more racist can you get? "

What? How did you get that out of it? Dude, if you're offended by the thought of a white woman with a black man, that's your problem. It's 2006. People who are hyper-sensitive to the thought of a perceived interracial coupling are the ones with racial issues. Not the makers of that ad. I found that ad to be over-the-top, unnecessary, and rude, but certainly not racist. Not in the slightest.

I am sick to death of almost every political ad on television. The outright lies and distortions are a reflection of the candidates who allow them to be run. In Michigan one add had a list of quotes, with the ad saying A+B+C=D. If you checked the dates of the quotes they were as many as ten years apart having nothing to do with the other.

I will vote tomorrow, but I honestly wish I could rebuke them instead of merely voting.

I also upchecked everyone so far, since this is asking a political question, opinions are valid even if it is different than most here.

They will often stoop to the level of the Democrats. Remember Clinton's "hatchet man" James Carville? I don't know of any Republicans who stoop lower than silly Dems who have one common theme this voting season and that is Bush bashing.

Very few, if any, new ideas; only Bush bashing. They are rudderless and have nothing to offer.

I simply change the channel
what people don't understand is that most of the time it isn't the person running for office it is the lobbyists and other organizations that put the most negative ads out.
TOTAL CAMPAIGN REFORM is needed
we used to have opponant debates and public forums to see and judge for ourselves--but now americans sit on their butts and watch TV and if we are lucky half will vote
WE ARE LOSING OUR DEMOCRACY but no one cares

APATHY the choice of today's american

I'm a dem, but around here the dems are just as bad as the republicans. It's just awful. No one talks about the issues, it's just about mudslinging.

They were trying pass some anti-gay legislation and were calling people up with an anti-gay message to get you to vote with them. They kept calling me, even though I lived in a different county and it wasn't going to be on my ballot. They called me at least 10 times.

I guess when you spend all your time hating gays you can't learn how to work a phone book!

Both sides are getting pretty desperate for every little vote and putting that kind of crap in their campaign ads. It is pretty pathetic that they have to stoop so low.
