Church is a good place to meet good friends. I met my best friends at church and have been close to them for over 10 years.

Make sure that you go to places that are of interest to you. You want to meet someone who shares some of the same interests as you, because people who like the same things as you often are easiest to start up conversations with.

Be bold as well. Even if you just walk up and ask a girl if you can call her sometime, it's not like you're gonna know her (if you're meeting new ones), and you wont' ever have to see her again if she turns you down.

You can always try hanging out at restaurants and observing people/making eye contact with people across the room or something silly like that.

Coffee shops work.

Hmmm. Museums if they interest you. Local sporting events. Even try going places that you usually don't go.

You don't 'meet' good friends, that only develops in time.
