Self righteous behavior is a mask to cover a persons insecurities. Just like the rest of the struggling masses on this planet each of us does what we think best to make our lives matter. I too don't like to be confronted with a person who is filled with self righteous indignation, but I don't sweat it, and neither should you. For every person we encounter that shows us the bad side of humanity we should stop and think of what brought this person to that point and just be above the negativity. Preaching is easy, living by example is the hard part... and I endeavor every day to make the small corner of the world where I live a little better for my being in it. Some days it's hard and I feel that it may be pointless.. but then I wake up to a new day and find out I am glad that I didn't give up. So you don't give up either... learn to be a little more tolerant and don't let the crappy side of nature dictate your attitude... put on smile girl and just be happy for today. Peace.

Self-righeousness is a state of mind...
It is a justification for actions done, quite Quixotic actually.
People have closed-minds, it's how we are. Pigeon-holing and catagorizing is what keeps our brains from blowing into oblivion. What is, is, except for...is what our mind constantly does. Now would you like to rewrite everything everytime you found something new out? Noo... That doesn't simplify life.
It simplifies your life too.
Just try, though. I bet you (because I do too) fall into the same self-righteousness they do as well.
This has been a scatter-brained reply, but have fun!

that's what they say honey if you can't impress with intelligence then dazzle them with bull s h i t .
Self-righteousness is second nature, I mean everyone thinks they are right, even if they don't research or have proof for what they are trying to convince you of.
We are all responsible to seek our own truth, at least you are on to them and know that they are out there, you are girding yourself with the right armor, keep it up, they won't be able to get to you after a while and you will be able to determine when you are speaking to someone who is sanctimonious and self-righteous. Jesus called them hypocrites by the way. Peace
