I bought a new dress at H&M. The dress print is made up of a continuous pattern. The colors are blue, white and red. The dress is long. The neckline is square shaped. The dress is tappered right above my waist and the sleeves are kind of poofy. The cut of the dress makes it look very 70's, although the pattern of the dress gives it a mod look. I'm not sure what color shoes to wear. Also, should I get flats, boots, or high heels? And do my shoes, purse and necklace have to match?

The material of the dress is light.

I would go with a red shoe. It would bring out the color in the dress, add a bit of flair and be fun to wear. I would not choose white, personally I hate white shoes. Blues are very hard to match. If the dress has a more wintery feel then you could go with boots, but if it is lighter material, I would choose a mid size heel. Purse does not have to match shoes but your hose should be neutral or nude if you wear hose. The necklace could be silver or gold. I think silver would be great especially if you could pick up the geometrical design of the dress.
Sounds like a nice dress. Remember to wear a smile too.

I would say blue heels, unless there is not much blue in the dress, then white. Red would probably stand out too much. Flats would not be dressy enough. You could get a heeled boot, but I think something that would show some of your foot would be better. Maybe Those lace strap heels. It is best to match the accessories with the shoes, but not necessary, especially if blue is the predominate color. If it is and you get blue shoes, go with the color that is the least in the dress, or white if they are even, for the accessories. I'm thinking a white purse with small pearls for your necklace and earrings would be great with a kind of 70's/mod style. If white happens to be the predom color too, then use white heels as well and you can't lose. Good luck!

If you are in an area where you are going into the colder season then wear some knee high red leather boots, the skinny ones, not the "scrunchy (for lack of a better term)" ones. It will make you look tall and lean and is different than the usual dress shoe. The bag should match but I think the necklace would be overkill. Go with a simple metal chain with something funky dangling from it.

Get some strappy pumps/heels that aren't too fancy. Your dress is printed so don't overdo the look by wearing shoes that are too much of a distraction. Get shoes in the dominant color of the print. If there's no dominant color pick one. Your accessories don't have to match the print - make it a solid color, pick one color visible in the print.
