Well considering there are people who taste dog food for a living....

Just like any other flavored product, there probably are people who sample first the flavoring and finally the finished product. No, I don't think they perform sex acts at work to try them out. :)
Also, sometimes couples or individuals (friends of people at the company) will be given samples to try and report back on what they think.
