I am putting a class together for some clients and am curious to see what other people are concerned with. If these is something that plagues you currently, that would be fine as well. If you did something or read a good book to overcome the problem, including that information would also be helpful.

The customers that I work with tend to like it more if I know something about their "style". If you have a good idea on what someone needs or is interested in, go with it. Although some of the biggest mistakes can come from that(and I have seen this happen) i.e. being to pushy or aggressive, not giving the client or customer the ability to tell you what they want(you could be wrong), not giving enough informative info on the sale. Things like that do hurt. Also my biggest problem is undesirable attitudes. You can almost always tell if you are going to go through with a transaction by the way you are treated, I NEVER make transactions with "bad att's", if you can't show respect--no deal!

I remember while working in retail for so many years, there were an awful lot of mistakes made in sales, wrong price tags attached to new incoming garments, and other store items, and many of the same items were sold at the wrong tag prices before it was discovered, also there were times when a few customers purchased items @ sale price, only to return item and get a refund @ regular pr. because at that time the customer did not have to bring back their reciept to show that the item was purchased @ that price or even at that particular store, that has changed now, also mostly all of those stores have folded now. But the worst I can remember is when a new cashier ring up a large sum of items, baged them, and allowed the customer toleave without paying for all of that merchandise.

i work in sales and three of the biggest things that will torpedo any business is wearing sunglasses indoors, not returning calls, and not keeping promises. the hard sell where you beat the customer over the head doesn't work anymore either, people are too informed nowadays
