I'm talking about proposition 87 that some people are saying that if it is passed then nothing will get done with the tax money they collect from the oil companies. I think an opinion like that just doesn't make any sense. And if it don't make sense then it is probably not true. Vote yes on 87.....

I think the problem that some people are referring to in regards to Proposition 87 (I'm assuming you're another Californian) is that there is nothing in the measure that says the researchers have to come up with any research, ideas, programs, or anything else as a result of the money that they're granted. Obviously, this is an understandable provision for a scientific project, but considering the amount of money that would be put into it, the lack of acccountability can make some voters nervous. Other problems: the extra money oil companies must pay, no matter how we legislate against it, will probably get passed down to consumers at the pump, and companies may even be driven out of the state.

That's all just to play devil's advocate, of course. I'm seventeen, not legally allowed to vote, and don't have much of an opinion on this one. We'll see how it goes.
