Yes, type O is the universal blood type. They can donate to anyone. Their blood cells do not contain the type A or type B proteins on their surface. For people who have type A blood their red blood cells contain only the type A protein so if they were to recieve type B blood, the type A will see the type B as invaders and try to destroy the type B blood. This is because they do not recognize the type B protein because their cells do not have it on their surface. Type O does not have any type A or type B proteins so type A blood cells will accept it.

Blood typing is based on the ABO system
A & B are both dominant allele
O is the recessive allele
The primary phenotypes are
A, B, AB & O.
A person who's pheontype A can be either AA, or AO
Likewise, a person who is B can be either BB or BO
Since A&B are codominant, an AB phenotype is always AB
And since the O phenotype is recessive, the genotype is always OO.
That is why a person who is type O, can donate to all blood types. There is no conflict with the O allele and the others.
And type AB people can receive blood from any donor since they have both A&B alleles.
Type A people can only recieve blood from type A donors (AA or AO) or type O donors. A type A recipient will reject blood containing the B allele.
The same goes for type B recipients (only BB, BO, or OO donors). Naturally a type B donor will reject blood containing the A allele.
Unfortunately, type O recipients can only receive blood from O donors. They will reject any blood containing either the A or the B allele.
In short, type O people are the universal donors and type AB people are the universan recipients.

Yes, if it is O- . Or, if it is O+ then a person of A+ can safely accept the blood. (O- is incompatable with A+)
Type O is called the universal donor because it carries no antigens (protein markers that tell your body this cell is yours)
Because it has no antigens, your body doesn't detect it and it can be used by your body.
However they usually will give type A blood to type A people because even thought type O is a universal donor, they can only accept type O blood.
The opposite of type O blood is AB, they can accept blood from any donor, (Rh permitting) but only donate to other type AB's.

Yes, unless the donor is O+ and the recipient is A-. A person with type A blood has anti-B antigens. Type O blood does not contain B antigens, so it does not trigger the immune response in the recipient. However, if the blood is O+ and the recipient is A-, then the recipient's immune response will be triggered by the Rh factor in the donated blood.

Yes, because type O blood don't have A and B antigens which causes immune response,be sure that the donor is free from any type of infectious diseases and should consider compatibitlity as one factor in tranfusing blood products. e.g some people are allergic and some are not, we have different bodily reactions. Blood type O Rh- is the universal donor while AB Rh + is the universal recipient.

yes a person with O type blood can donate to a person having A type blood because the O type blood does not have any antibodies.

Yes, as long as the types match in terms of + or - blood types. O is the universal donor.

if your O- then your blood can be given to anyone, but you can only take blood from other O- donors. if you are O+ you can take blood from anyone, but can only donate for other O+. I'm O+, so I'm set to go. plenty of blood for me!

persons having AB can donate their blood to anyone but O can not...Because o is not common blood, its as unique as A or B... n u know there is O+ n O-... so a person havng O blood grp can not donate blood 2 evryone.....!
