-he needs both a infrared light at night and a basking heat lamp for the daytime.
-make sure you feed him away from the sand substrate because too much ingested can cause blockages
-he needs green vegetables (no iceburg) and crickets regularly, mealworms and dragon food can be used as well
-he needs calcium to put on his food, a cuttlebone for birds crushed into powder would be sufficient, and costs about 1 dollar
-you must mist him and his cage with a water bottle twice a day, if you think you will forget leave a bowl of water for him
-he needs a grapevine to climb up on to get closer and further away from the heat source, make sure the heat source is placed on one side of the tank, and not in the middle, to create a heat gradient
-he also needs something to hide under-a cave type thing that he can fit into when he needs to cool down.
-just contact me if you have any more questions, i work at a pet store, and I cared for my nephew's beardie for 3 months.

Here are the basics that you need BEFORE you get your beardie:
-Tank
-Heat lamp
-UV lamp
-temperature gauge beyond a "color" temp guide. You should know the exact temp of your tank at all times.
-electrical timer - VERY important that your heat and UV lamps be on a timer. The lamps should be on a 12-14 hr cycle
-don't use actual "sand", get media that is made specifically for beardies and does not contain silica. If you are getting babies, I recomment shredded newspaper until they are a about 6 months old.
-Something to climb on: slate, climbing log, etc. get from a store - not from ourside. Needs to be large and wide enough so the beardie can bask under the heat and/or UV lamp.
-somewhere to hide: a half log, slate stacked to make a "house" kinda thing.

Make sure that the tank is totally set up and the lamp timers have been functioning for at least 3 days. The tank needs to be warmed up and tested before your beardies come home. If there are any issues with your set up, you need to be able to detect them before there is a dragon in it.

spray bottle for misting they dont drink out of bowls they only drink moving water
you need a moist hide in the cool area
keep the heating products on one side of the tank
dont use calci sand use play sand they eat calcisand and can get impacted and die
rocks for basking stick for climbing
tank needs to be 50 gallons minimum size
they can get smelly scoop poop and pee every day change sand once a month

Beardies need UV that emits both UVA and UVB as this is vital in his day to day life. dont just put his enclosure near a window as UV doesnt travel through glass very well. you want the hot end of his tank (where the basking lamp is kept) around 30'C not shore in 'F and instead of spraying his tank just use a water bowl as Beardies are generally found in dry arid enviroments and you need to keep the humidity in his tank to a low so use a small water bowl. make shore you put alot of crickets in the tank as it will keep him active when he forages around. i recomend a rock rather than a stick as it holds temperature better and keeps his belly warm which helps with digesting food or better yet use tiles as they tend to concerntrate heat better than rocks and wood. if you find any other troubles just do a search on the net or go to a local pet store and get a book, their the greatest resource you can have.

Do not follow the advice of the pet store chick about misting your beardie - they need to be in a dry environment or they can develop respiratory infections!!! Please don't mist it, a water bowl will do! And they absolutely do drink from a bowl - I have seen it! Promise - just keep the water clean. Also, only clean the tank with a bleach and water solution - it is safest.
