Now that pornography is more mainstream, widespread, and accessible, have people's expectations about the bodies of themselves and others gotten out of hand? Do you think people of either sex are going to greater and stranger lengths to reshape, resize, reduce, implant, nip, tuck, wax, bleach, tan, diet and work out everything down to the last toenail to look like the people in the porn industry? Do you think that partners really care that much about a lot of these things? Do you?

I don't mean the regular stuff. I mostly mean things like body part modification, surgical sculpting, and getting sensitive areas waxed and bleached. It used to just be a fringe element of people who did it, but it seems to be more common now.

I think there are some that are extreme in their sexual preferences and that's not my place to discredit those. I personally do not care for pornography; it degrades men and women, is unrealistic and lacks the one thing that all relationships have: love, respect, understanding, a smile, a soft touch from your partner when you're down, a kiss on the forehead. What happened to romance? I think there are times when some partners need communication if their sex life is being unfullfilled; which is a different concept. I believe that couples can be extremely erotic with one another without it; exploring one another with appreciation, and that comes from within, not a film. Those films are a temporary release for something that should last longer; a yearning for intimacy, which is better than anything else I can possibly imagine. These are my opinions. Thank you for reading.

I don't think that the insecurity some people experience has anything to do with the porn industry. I think that some things just become cultural norms because friends do this or that, magazines sell a specific image, etc. If your partner cares more about whether you wax, tan, diet than about what *you* consider important then that partner is not worth keeping around.

I heard a quote once that sort of goes along with this insecurity issue:

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"
- Eleanor Roosevelt

I don't think it's the porn industry so much as Hollywood or advertisers and magazines. I also think it affects women more so, than men. Models and actresses are pressured to be thin all the time. How many times did they tell a girl on American Idol something about her weight (like she needs to loose some) and then the "velvet teddy bear" (I forgot his name) wins. I highly doubt if he was a female he would have made it that far. And winning?!? No way. I actually think porn has some of the same problems, but not as bad. You can see lots of "amatuer" porn that has people like "normal" weights or even very heavy----some people like that.

The growing porn industry has had a growing negative effect on women, but in recent polls, we've learned it affects the male in the same way. Imagine this: as you're growing into adult hood, the only other people you see are these porn stars...with engorged genitiles, breasts and doing things that seem unreal. Who are you going to compare yourself to? Women porn actresses, range in body shape and seem to do fine. But how many men are really shown in the porn movies? Men with 'smaller' genitiles? Men who are chubby in the middle? The industry focuses on the 'private' part of the man, and ONLY when the women are 'touching' it. My husband frequently comments about how he wish he was 'like' the men in porn movies, with the large 'you know whats'.

The porn industry creates an unrealistic image of people. No amount of plastic surgery, makeup, or dress is going to improve someone's self esteem, if they are comparing themselves to a porn star. By the way, many of the porn stars, are not even having as much 'fun' as it appears on film...they're getting paid. Plain and simple. (not to mention digusting)

I don't think porn has the greatest influence about security of one's body. The more general media - TV, Movies, and Magazine have more impact. Because not everyone watches porn specially young children still has no access to it. But they see in the TV, Movies, ... etc. what these models or stars show as sexy.

And if your going to look there are porns that cater to certain perversion that not generally show big boobs or slim waists.

People thinking they have to live out whats on the screen. and Other people making big bucks messing up peoples lives, marriages, and the most intimate blessed gift from God outside of salvation is sex within a marriage!...Porn is one of the sickest and but most over-rated and glorified experience from the pits of hell, with a price of losing ones soul completely!
