I have had early symptoms of high blood pressure and since I made some changes with my lifestyle, I had been better. My blood pressure has been normal ever since - 100/60, 110/70, or sometimes 120/80. This has been my daily regimen:
- Eat plain yogurt with banana and almonds. I add splenda for sweetness. (Do not use artificial sweetener with aspartame like Equal or NutraSweet.)
- Take Flaxseed oil daily.
- Watch sodium intake. Too much sodium raises your blood pressure. If your blood pressure is too high, eliminate salt in your diet.
- When eating salads, I make my own dressing. Most salad dressings in the store contain too much sodium. For example, I mix balsamic vinegar, garlic olive oil, roasted sesame oil, a little bit of salt and pepper. There's nothing like home-made salad dressing. You could control what's in there.
- Drink soy milk daily.
- Eat nutritious cereals (heart healthy, watch sodium content).
- Limit your sugar intake. Excessive sugar causes inflammation inside your body.
- Eat a high-fiber diet and plenty of fruits and vegetables such as apples, asparagus, bananas, brocolli, cabbage, cantaloupe, eggplant, garlic, grapefruit, green leafy vegs., melons, peas, prunes, squash, shitake mushrooms, brown rice, oats, and sweet potatoes.
- Avoid foods such as aged cheeses and meats, anchovies, avocados, chocolate, fava beans, pickled herring, sour cream, caffeine, tobaccos, and wine.
- Helpful herbs are cayenne, parsley, and rosemary. Mix with cooking.
- Exercise regularly - stretching, aerobics, walking, playing tennis, swimming. If you know yoga, much better. Make sure that it's just light to moderate exercise as not to overexert yourself.
- Drink plenty of water, get sufficient sleep and as much as possible, avoid stress.
- Helpful nutrients: Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Co-Q10, Vitamin A & E, Ester C, Bromelain, Vitamin B complex.
- Have your blood pressure checked at least every 4-6 months.

There are some great blood pressure medications that cost only around $10 per month. The older the medication, the cheaper it is........doctor's tend to want to prescribe the newer medications because the pharmaceutical companies are hard selling them, but some of the older blood pressure medications are really good and are NOT expensive at all.........so maybe you need to have a discussion with your doctor about switching you to a medication that is not as expensive.
As for foods that help blood pressure, I would say fruits and veggies. Foods that you should avoid for blood pressure reasons would be salt and caffeine and trans fat.
The best way to bring down blood pressure the natural way is through exercise. Sometimes all you need is a 20 minute walk every day with some fresh air. The exercise is good and being out in the fresh air will also de-stress you some. Meditation is also good.
By the way, the guidelines on the definition of high blood pressure have recently changed. In the older days, a blood pressure of 140/90 was considered high. Now, however, a blood pressure of 120/80 is considered borderline high. Doctors nowadays really want to see blood pressures more along the lines of 110/60 as ideal.
Also, please don't stop taking blood pressure medications suddenly without talking with your doctor. If your blood pressure were to get dangerously high, you could have a stroke and end up paralyzed. Please be careful.
Good luck.
Sincerely,

I have listed 2 sites below that deal with Hypertension (high blood pressure) and the last if you decide you want to try herbs to help your high BP. I have tried several and they're 100% natural products and work great. Just be sure to check with your dr. before starting any type of alternate medicines (esp.ly if you're on other medicines prescribed by a physician).
As the one site lists also- try yoga, pilates, mediatation.....to help calm the mind and in effect calming the body, ridding it of stress.
Last but not least - try massage therapy. Sometimes you will be able to find a practicing school that has a clinic and most likely then not the prices are lower than a licensed massage therapist on their own. The students are just as capable in helping to calm the mind, helping with tension, stress relief, etc. and are usually supervised by instructors.
GOOD LUCK!

taking medicine for that condition. High blood pressure can and does affect the kidneys. If left untreated it can cause many health
problems.I know that from personal experience, If you can't afford to purchase the medication PLEASE go to your local clinic for help, You must find a way to get the proper medicine. also make sure to limit your salt intake.

A lot of people with high blood pressure can reduce it by reducing the sodium content of their diet. If you find that this does not bring about sufficient lowering, have your doctor write a prescription for HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide). It is available at very moderate cost on line for about $20.00 for 300 tablets.

I want natural also.
I've read Fish Oil in Capsules, Garlic., Hawthorne Berry, and CO Q 10, Cayenne in capsules, Potassium, Calcium and Magnesium are a few things that help and cutting out so much salt. Also eating more vegetables and fruits.
Doctors really push medicine.....the price isn't my concern, but the side effects are.
Yet, they say if it isn't lowered, it damages things in our body. I have yet to buy the Fish Oil but I plan to. A friend takes it and her BP is low. Keep searching online. Best wishes.

One of the best things you can do is cut your sodium intake. Water stays with sodium. The more sodium you take in, the more water your body retains in order to keep a balance. The more water in your system, the more pressure inside your blood vessels.
