With my 2 mo. old son we started with Enfamil Lipil and he had such a hard time during feedings(arching back, very fussy during and after) not to mention some pretty stout gas. I then tried Nestle Good Start Supreme with DHA and ARA (free can w/ a formula check) and it was a night and day difference. He is a very happy baby now. I also use Enfamil Gentlease Lipil and he does very well on it. It is very similar to Good Start Supreme, its proteins are broken down to smaller pieces so it is easier to digest and it has 1/4 less lactose than regular Enfamil so is easier for sensitive tummies. So I buy what is on sale and what I have coupons for. On that note Walmart and Kroger stores make a store brand called "Gentle" that is just like Gentlease and alot cheaper it is 14.96 at Walmart for a 24oz can and Gentlease is 24.96. You can also sign up for Nestle Good Starts, very best baby website and they send you checks every month usually I @ 11.00 (which will get you a 12oz can for free or almost) and 1 @ 1.00. On your initial welcome packet you will also get one worth 8.00 off a 6 pack of 3oz glass nurser bottles. Good Luck.

all babies are different. They will start the baby on what the Dr. orders and if it is well tolerated no reason to change but not all babies tolerate all formulas. Sometimes you have to change for different reasons. some have more iron. some babies can't drink cows' milk so they have goats milk now. So, you'll see when it's time. don't worry yet. better to stay with what they give at the beginning unless the baby has problems. good luck.

I believe it to be a personal preference to the baby. If you can afford it, try different formulas. They say you will know a baby's reaction to anything new after giving it to him/her for 3 full days. I recently switched from regular formula to soy for my 5 month old. After 2-3 days she was no longer fussy, had less gas, & less spitting up. Brand is not so important as nourishment and acceptability of your baby, yeah? I even know children who had to use watered down pet's milk because formula disagreed with them. They are 16 & 7 now and doing great :) See what your little one is happy with, because we all know as long as they are happy, we are exstatic!

I loved Carnation Goodstart Supreme (with DHA/ARA) It's gentle on the tummy and my girls loved it. They started on different brands and didn't eat as much as they should've until I switched, plus the DHA/ARA is really good for brain and eye development. It's about as close to breast milk as you can get. My girls are 4 yrs and 18 months now and they're very smart, healthy little angels.
