In the direction of the velocity vector. That's the best that can be done, given the limited information you have provided.

You're welcome.

Motion or direction has no meaning without a reference.

Let me explain:

If you are traveling along in a vehicle and you drop a stone out of the window - you will see it travel "straight" to the ground.

However, if I'm standing on the curb and watch this, I will see it travel in a curve as it "follows" the forward motion of the vehicle.

If we remove the vehicle and the curb and the earth and just leave the falling stone - what is its true path through space?

Don't think to hard on this one, because without a reference, a true path through space has no meaning - and no direction.

Pretty much always forward. Even if the perceived direction is backward, it's just forward in negative.
