I ask because I am writing a research paper on the effects that foster care can have on chilren when they become adults at least according to society. I chose this topic because I know that I have a diifficult time in college and I have backing of my parents I also know that many kids that come out of foster care don't have much contact with parents whether foster or biological once they turn 18. I am not trying to offend anyone just get a testimonial both sides would be help ful if someone doesn't feel comfortable posting but would still like to help let me know I will give you my email. THanks

my mom and stepp dad were foster kids, and basically got the boot when they turned 18. My mom finally got an associates degree in computer programming last year and my step dad doesnt have a college education. I think if like my mom had more support she would realized her dream sooner and would have her ph.d or something (shes sooooo smart) I might not be here to day, but i think she woul dbe happier. The only family she has is me, my brother and my step dad.

the only good thing about being raised in foster care is that some of the ppl that go through it like my mom, come out stronger with thicker skin. They are also in my opinion better parents. My mom is so cool, i think she is such a good mom (and i dont mean give me everything i want- trust me i wish...lol) becaue she saw what its like to be suckie mom and made an effort to make sure she was never like her foster mom...

but yep...thats my two cents luv...

peace and love- chai
