I personally am not punk, but I know about the musical origins and I think it is amazing. I also believe punk though is not competely music it is what you beleive in, I believe Saying NO and refusing contentment when things are actually wrong. I do not know what true beleive themselves. And to tell the truth I have no respect for those who think they "need" hot topic. It is not who you want to be not but who you are and how you want to dress with what you have. Sure you can shop but people need to finally see what they have its good enough to be "punk". People who take what they have and make it better and creative also shows even more of themselves. Last of all punk people should do something "punk" people should actually do something about what they are opposing. I do these things but I don't believe in labels and I don't dress in the uniform. I don't need that to be me.
So to you what do you believe makes a punk if it was labeled??? I want to hear from people please.

punk........
hmmm...
punk to me just really means like someone who is into punk music like..alot alot....
posers dress like "outcasts" and like you said....neeeeeed! hot topic.
BUT
i dont think punk can be labeled....
labels are what make posers.....
and if everyone is dieing to not be labled.........dont dress punk....there are too many out there.....it is completely the opposite of being an individual!
i mean...if you dig the style..go for it...but dont try to be individual by wearing what all the other "idividuals" are

Now that I'm a little older, I believe the only people who AREN'T posers, are those who are called "punk" but never wished to be identified that way in the first place. People who aren't trying. Just like the word "ghetto". If you really were ghetto, you wouldn't have to go out of your way to act like it. And if you notice, pretty much the only people who are "punk" are young people - once you stop being a baby, you stop trying to fit in with a certain genre of whatever that you think is cool. You just don't give a f about that, because you're trying to pay your rent, support yourself, and just make it.

I myself am a poser.

I try to wear punk clothing to fit in but still I end up looking like a geek. I spout off about bands I know little about just to impress others.

All the real punks I know dress way cooler than me. They always try to avoid me at school and give me dirty looks. They laugh and say "Quick...hide....Here comes poser Luke." I'll just hang my head in shame.

I wish I were more genuine. It sucks being a poser!

punks are just like emo kids... other than being lame they dont have to dress that way to get their point across... u can listen to that music and activly show support and beleive in what you beleive in w/o dressing like an idiot... THEY DO THAT FOR ATTENTION BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO SELFESTEEM
