Chance.

Many stars in the galaxy are part of binary systems. As the gaseous nebula that forms a solar system collapses, the mass can distribute in many ways. The Sun got the majority of the mass, and Jupiter carries much of the residual mass of the solar system (2.5x the mass of the other planets). If more mass had gone to Jupiter, we might be in a binary solar system. If the majority of the mass went to Jupiter, it would be the Sun, and vice versa.

The Sun is heavier than Jupiter because it undergoes fusion which needs very high pressure which means there is a lot of "stuff" (material, aka hydrogen, helium and heavier elements) in a very small space. If the Sun were to be under the same "pressure" as Jupiter, its outer shell would be near the asteroid belt (maybe further). Although Jupiter is made of hydrogen and helium also, it is not as heavy because it is not compressed like the sun would. If it were, maybe it would turn into a very small star.

i think the sun is heavier than jupiter because the sun has more mas and jupiter is mostly made up of gases which don't account for the mass

Well, I think the only way it can be summed up is by looking at the size of the two...dude, the sun is like 50 times bigger than Jupiter

Weight is measured in terms of the two mass and gravity, and since the solar and Jupiter adventure distinctive gravitational outcomes, it isn't useful (as properly as quite confusing) to study their weights. i think of what you're searching for is the MASS. Mass is self sustaining of weight, as an occasion in case you went to the Moon you will weigh much less yet your mass would proceed to be an identical. to that end, the solar is approximately 1047.517 (a sprint extra suitable than one thousand) circumstances as super as Jupiter, that's in turn approximately 317.817 circumstances as super through fact the Earth. besides the certainty that the two Jupiter and the solar comprise a super element composed of gaseous remember, and a good extra suitable element composed of chemical components which may be gaseous below popular terrestrial circumstances, the two products even have dense interiors, in certainty the middle of the solar is extra dense than any of course occurring fabric on earth.

The sun and Jupiter both weigh 0. They are both floating in space.

The sun has more mass (..stuff) in it than Jupiter.

Because it's about a hundred quadbillion times bigger than Jupiter.

Because the Sun formed at the center of the solar nebula, where most of the mass was located.
