My lawn has many numerous small patches of what appears to be overturned sod. Each area is about 8 feet in diameter and has been completely destroyed with 1" to 3" chunks of sod overturned. I suspect that it is skunks digging for grubs. Can anyone confirm or elaborate on this?

Well it could be several of my four legged friends. I saw raccoons, Possum, skunks, and weasel. Honestly, and i live Los Angeles. Where on earth do these darlings come from? So I turned the sprinklers. that scares em.

Not really... couldn't you stay up at night and watch what cirtters are the culprits.

Otherwise talk to your local nurseryman.
