Hmm... Limewire.com is not a dodgy website. The program is open source (anyone can view the source code). Limewire allows the people who use it to share files with each other. Sadly, some people choose to share viruses, pornography and other sick and malicious stuff on the network. Like the internet, the medium itself is not bad but the things transfered may be.
Downloading copyrighted files using p2p networks may be illegal in your country, so you may be sued by the RIAA, MPAA or other anti-piracy groups. However downloading for personal use is actually legal in Canada and France.
If your computer is acting up, this may be because you unknowingly downloaded a virus or worm from the network. If this is the case, don't worry so much. Run a virus scan on your computer with AVG (http://free.grisoft.com), its free anyway. After which scan your computer for spyware with spybot search and destroy (http://www.spybot.info) and install a reputable firewall on your computer such as zonealarm.
I do hope that this helps you. If you need any more help, just post and I will try my best. Oh and if downloading MP3s is legal in your country, I would recommend that you get your MP3s from http://www.mp3realm.org.

Well it could be a good idea to leave it waiting over night and see if it had moved on a bit in the morning. If there's a lot of results then try the one nearest the top of the results. There's a free song downloading software like limewire but not quite as good called imesh where there might have the song. Search it on google and download it. It's virus free. if all else fails try doing the legal way and buy it on itunes lol. Good luck!

Yes definatley uninstall limewire it is a pain and give your pc a good clean with your security applications. A whole load of crap will come down with it. And downloading a mass number of audio files (thats if you are) will cause instability along with the rubbish limewire brings into your system. Do try an open source program and be careful good luck

if you download always do a anti virus scan before opening, it sounds like you may have downloaded a virus, also always on limewire click to discconnect under file when you want to finish. or else the program can still be running and it may simply be that.

Any file sharing network is very risky. You should have read some of my other posts on the topic. Lots of people recommend limewire, so you can download music. Yes, its illegal. Its based outside of the USA, so they are somewhat beyond the reach of our legal system.
Sorry...

Isn't lime wire a site where you can pirate songs? If your computer is acting up, it is probably a divine act of god because you are stealing. Got what you paid for.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU DOWNLOADED MORE THAN JUST SONGS--a lot of files on limewire(and other p2p sites)contain malicious code and should always be scanned before opening. bit torrent sites are MUCH safer for downloading stuff if you are into copyright infringement. p2p downloads are mostly illegal!!!!
