There are certainly extremists in both parties. The difference is that in the Republican party, they are on the fringe. In the Democratic party, they are in the mainstream.
Would we be better off without them? Yes.
Is there a snowball's chance in H-ll that this will happen? No.

Our republic is set up to allow for a small amount of extremists on either side of the spectrum which is what made it so progressive and logical when it was created. Extremists ruined it by ganging up and trying to take over the whole system. Our government system is based on the moderation of all opinions to lead to a compromise and, therefore, the best interest of the common good.

I think that extremists will always exist, no matter what type of party is created. There is a positive side. Extremists remind the rest of us what a blessing it is to be a moderate that takes the time to listen and think before voting or acting. Even extremists have a purpose.

We would have a better government if there weren't people who listen to extremists on both sides, those who care about the people, and have the ability to compromise with the other side.

I think that the extremists help the middle-of-the-roaders get off their a**es and do something! They pique interest, and they help others to define what they really believe in. But, when it comes to these negative campaign ads, or real threats, I think we'd be better off without them.
Extremists also help us to see what is good about The US----we CAN be extreme if we want to!!!

Your extreme right and left wings keep stirring the pot of discontent and prevent moderates from making concessions to really get past a particular issue and move on to something productive.

That's just childish stuff. The truth is all opinions should be heard , considered, and THEN decided upon.
I do wish they'd all stop with the silly mud-slinging. That loses my vote every time.
