I have a Dell Inspiron 600 laptop.But the screen is black.I turn it on,and Windows XP load screen comes up,then the screen goes black.But the laptop is still on.Lights are still flashing on the keyboard and if i press too many buttons it starts to beep.But the screen remains black!The warrenty on my laptop is out-dated so Dell product service refuses to help me.Does anyone know whats going on?Any help would be great!Thanks!

Ive tried booting into Safe-mode a few times.Nothing changes...My friend suggested a wire-disconnection inside..Could that be it?

if you get as far as the windows screen you likely have a software problem.
try pressing F8 at boot and boot to Safe Mode, then run System Restore to a date you know the computer was working

It could be a faulty backlight or inverter. I'd try connecting it to an external monitor and see if you get the same result. If you do, it's a complicated problem that is beyond me.
If the external monitor shows an image, then the screen needs to go, I would think. Try http://www.screentekinc.com or eBay for a new screen. eBay also has inverters if you deem that the problem.

erm, you can try reformatting your laptop, i'm not sure how to do it with a dell, but if you google it, it should give you an answer.
