I wish ultimately to be a movie director.
I understand that will take a lot of time, effort and little baby steps.
Where is the best place to start? Where is the bottom of the ladder? I'm willing to climb the ladder.

Start at the Grip Union, Local 33, 1720 W. Magnolia, Burbank, CA (818) 841-9333. Call and ask when they are taking applications. It will be most likely after the 1st of the year. You will not work a 40 hr week to start and it will be hard work for good pay. So, you should have a job that your hours are flexible. It will most likely take you a couple of years to work steady. However, this will get your foot in the door and the rest will be up to you.

Try monster.com or Craig's List

You're bound to find something, even if it's mail room or kraft's work, which is the person who helps with providing the food refreshments on set.

Good Luck!

Also it helps if you already live in that area. If so, NETWORK< NETWORK< NETWORK. Meet people and you'll end up somewhere.
