Which one? I personally try not to shop at Wal-Mart, I've changed and had my parents change their prescriptions to Target, my parents have also canceled their Wal-Mart and Sam's cards. We are now members of Costco. I speak to all of my friends about shopping there also. It doesn't really work. I tell you Wal-Mart causes a lot of trouble. They open up in small towns and run away all the mom and pop stores, then when they leave there's nothing left to support the town. It's gonna take a lot for Wal-Mart to hurt. Hopefully them getting rid of layaway will make people go elsewhere. If the government gets involved it may help also.

Wal-Mart won't feel the problem until Target Super center is build next to them and they have a layaway plan. If you were wondering about Wal-Mart not having layaway? I think they will change when all of Target take over their business. Because, I heard Target Supercenter with layaway will come in every where there is a wal-Mart.

I assume that you're referring to the often-touted notion that superstores such as Walmart are going to close down mom-and-pop outfits. To be certain, it's already happening in certain areas. The concern I keep hearing about is that--after closing out all competition--the prices are going to go through the roof, and no one will have anyplace else to buy anything.
The problem with this philosophy is that we (in America at least) have a free-market society; if Walmart's prices get out of line, we'll soon see a resurgence in mom-and-pop places again and have alternative places to shop. Whenever a small family-owned business--or specialty shop--closes and sites Walmart as their reason why... sure, it bugs me. But I also remember working in retail some years back, and I worked in small businesses. Often the owners of these businesses aren't willing to focus on their main strength, which is customer service. Indeed, they'll often cut employees' benifits and pay to the level where a salesman really has no incentive to "go the extra mile" for the company they work for. Business owners often refuse to cut their prices down... and these are the same owners who own big houses, new automobiles, and expensive golf club memberships. When you own a business, you have to be willing to make sacrifices to make it work. I know of several smaller businesses around my area that have focused on their strengths, reduced their prices, and increased benifits. They are still standing quite tall, and my area is LOADED with Walmarts.
NOW. If you're referring to the crappy benifits Walmart gives to their employees, I can only say that, for retail, they seem pretty much on the same line as most outlets. Serriously, check out what places such as Walgreens, Shopco, or Fred Meyer offer their workers. It measures up pretty damned closely. But a smart independant retailer who does only one thing--be it pets, gardening, grocery, clothing, electronics, or whathaveya--will be the place that offers better benifits, attracting the more-knowledgable sales staff, which in turn will attract buyers. That, and not expecting to make a killing off of every purchase with outrageous profit margins. If they all did that, Walmart would quickly become the place of last resort where people would shop.

You could open an account at TD Ameritrade and buy a few shares of Wal-Mart every week and die a millionaire.

Stop giving them so much business. Begin patronizing other stores, especially locally-owned business. Eventually Wal-Mart will die out (I hope).
