I kniow how to do a lot on the computer, but this isn't one of them. the programs I could use are paint (the orignal), Microsoft Word, an animator and IconCool Editor v5.34. Is there anyway i could use these, or other free downloads to make a flag wave?

GIFS can be animated to make a waving flag; I have seen a few on other websites.

My favorite way to do this is to use Alchemy Mindshop: http://www.mindworkshop.com/alchemy/gifcon.html
GIF construction set professional, it is super easy and the program is FREE, of course if you buy it you get rid of the annoying shutdown plea.

Simply take an image of the flag in your favorite graphics paint program, and then draw several images of it with the wave in it. You can do this with anything you want to animate like a man jumping up and down.

Once you have finished the drawings they you use the GIF Construction Set to put them together. First you have to select a speed to display the graphics at. Then find and add each image. Once you have a string of images then you save it all as one animation file and you have your Animated GIF.

You can also upload someone elses GIF and then convert it into the basic subimages that made up the animated GIF.

I also use Graphics Workshop Professional very often. It creates thumbnails of all your images and lets you go through the thumbnails to see the larger image simply by clicking on it. I have been using a version of this program since the eary 1990s.

Photoshop isn't the only graphics program out there but most likely you're going to need one. Animated images, known as .GIF files are a serious of images made into one picture file which has to be done with specific programs. You best bet if you don't want to go out and buy the program is find someone who does that kind of work and who has experience.

you can use a free software called gimp (gnu image manipulation program) to edit gif files, some of which are animation files. you'll need to download the gtk runtime environment first to be able to install gimp. you can download the above files at http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html
