How long do you maintain eye contact with stangers on the street?

(cat just looked bored and walked away. I get that sometimes on the street, too)

Depends where in the world I am. what mood i'm in, and who exactly i'm maintaing eyes with... there have been times where i've spent a few seconds really making a connection, with almost a linger And then there's been times where someone has briefly caught my eye, and given me the creeps... and in that case I tend to hurry to where ever I was headed.

I would keep eye contact as to not be surprised and to be sure they know you are alert. They would be less likely to feel in controll of the situation and think that you were not easy prey.

Never maintain eye contact with strangers. It will be staring incident and it is rather unpleasant. Will lead to misunderstanding...

If I happen to catch someones eye I look away as soon as possible. The eyes are the windows to the soul.

Just in passing, but I will smile and say hello or good morning if they make eye contact with me! Years of working with people... I forget that I don't have to talk to everybody! lol

It depends on what kind of vibe I get from them. Some not at all, some just a couple of seconds and some I will talk to.
