Why is it that all the sports announcers (and their guests) always wear headphones??

Because they're talentless eye-candy who can't think on their own. They have to listen to producers/directors tell them what to do/say in their ears...

so they can get thier cues from the director and in some cases hear what each other is saying. It is really loud in that stadium.
Cues from the director like when they are going to commercial and when they are back live things like that

Their brains are roughly the size of a BB and if they did not have something covering their ears, the little intelligence they have would roll down their ear canal and out onto the floor.

To get instruction from the director of the TV broadcast, from other people working to make the show better
