You should expect a molecular compound to form between N and O (as opposed to an ionic compound). This is because N and O are both nonmetals. An ionic compound will form when a metal and a nonmetal combine. I believe that this is what your question is getting at.

Keikun's suggestions are wrong. You can form several molecular substances (all gases at room temperature).
The main ones are N2O nitrogen I oxide
NO nitrogen II oxide
NO2 nitrogen IV oxide
Names using oxidation numbers are much more appropriate these days.
