They try to offer cereals that are not only healthy for you but ones that are easy for kids to eat. They also have deals worked out with the product makers to be able to offer you those brands. I am very glad they have given my family help and we even eat healthier for it.

since sooo many people are on wic now days they have to give u the least expensive items. Certain brands of food support wic and certain ones do not. They give u things with no added sugars, things that are excellent for yours and babys health etc. Total just is probably not the brand that is supported by wic. cheerios, corn flakes, kix etc are very good for you also and has a lot of vitamins needed in them and they are available for wic.

Mostly because of the price. I have 3 WIC checks that I haven't even used because of the amount of milk that they give me. I have 4 gallons of milk in my fridge and the three checks will give me 6 more gallons. Yet they only allow for 2 boxes of cereal a month! What the heck is that all about? I buy my own cereal and eat it like it's going out of style but still can't finish the milk.

Not really sure but i have to agree a little with you on that. I'm on WIC to so i know what you mean. But in there eyes the cereals they give you to chose from are the best for you.

wanna know why? the reason you can only get certain baby food formulas is that wic is largely funded by Formula companies, even tho they claim to be "pro breastfeeding". Nestle, carnation, etc that make the formula also make a lot of the foods you are allowed to get with wic.

WIC can only provide you with the choices of the companies willing to participate in it. I did hear that they are working on adding veggies to the allowance, but it could take some time.

i get WIC and i am authorized to get Total. some stores dont have an up to date list so they may say its not WIC approved, the best thing to do is go to another store.
