It's not a bad idea, it's a very cute piercing in my own opinion. Then again.. I have it pierced so that may be why I like it, but I've always liked it. I got mine pierced with a gun and it actually didn't hurt at all for me? I don't know why everyone is saying how it hurt so much.. I guess everyone has a different pain tolerance so it could be vary for you. If you take pain pretty decently it shouldn't hurt. I'm actually not very good with pain yet it never hurt or got infected or anything, the only problem I had was my hair getting tangled up in the earring and having to take it out once. When I had to take it out, I made sure to clean the earring well along with my ear. =] It might be a bad idea to get it done at claires though, I would go somewhere where the people piercing your ears actually have some experience as Claires workers are taught how to pierce ears in under ten minutes probably. That's my guess at least! Haha. Hope I've helped you.

Not at claires. They're too cheap, and not experienced enough to be good at cartilage piercing. Regular ear piercing is ok at claires, but only for the first time. I got my ear re-pierced, because 1 hole closed up, and they pierced it way in the wrong place! The cartilage piercing will get infected, and be a pain. So get it done by a professional! Hope this helped! =]

in the cartilage? I had mine done several years ago at a claires- it did not hurt when I got it pierced but in the weeks that followed, the back post of the earring kept stabbing me in the side of the head and would hurt when I tried to sleep on that side. It never got infected or anything- I ended up having to take mine out cause I couldn't sleep on that side- it closed up, no hole, just a little scar in the crease of the upper ear- I might try it again with a different style earring this time, maybe a small hoop that lays flat when ya lay down on it- good luck

If you're getting it done with a gun, there is a much higher chance for infection. I read a few stories where people got their cartilage pierced with a gun and it got so infected they had to get surgery and half their ear was taken off..I didn't believe it until it happened to someone I knew!! I honestly think you should pay a little extra and get it done at a piercing shop. I had my cartilage pierced with a gun and it got so infected and swollen I had to get pliers to take it apart. I think it's well worth the extra dollars to pay to insure that nothing will happen to you.

I hope its not a bad idea! I just had mine pierced a week ago :)..I just turned 48...and reason I had mine pierced has great meaning.....My original engagement ring from 27 years ago was....very small, as it was all we could afford...I wore it proudly for 25 years until the diamond fell out...I retrieved it and it along with the ring it was set in found a place in my jewelry box. My husband presented me with an updated engagement ring that year for our 25th anniversary. He surprised me on my birthday recently with my original setting with my birthstone set into it...and had the original diamond reset into a earring post, as I had always talked about someday having my upper ear cartilage pierced. I have not put it in yet, as I need to allow my ear to heal for a few weeks...and I have also decided to invest in a good quality hoops, as I hear they are more comfy for sleeping, but I will wear my wedding diamond on special occasions.

ugh. Piercing your self is a foul thought. yet because of the fact you have already achieved it, that may no longer proper. shop the are sparkling, a minimum of 2x on a regular basis with a mushy unscented cleansing soap like provon. Soak the affected area with 1tsp salt to 1cup purified warm water, for as much as ten minutes, as many as 5x consistent with day. This promotes healing. Cartilage is tough to heal, because of the fact there's no longer as a lot blood bypass interior the area. maximum suitable of success.

Well from my own personal experience, I had it done and I HATED it... It was not worth the pain. I couldn't talk on the phone with that ear, I couldn't sleep on it, everytime I changed my shirt I'd hit it, causing it to hurt more...
It was a nightmare and I took it out after 2 weeks.
