The first I wondered what was going on.....after I heard about it, and and a second hit...I wondered WTF......Shortly after, I began to realize just what was going on. By the time the Pentagon got hit and 93 went down, I was more than scared, upset, and wanted to know what to do to stop it.....Two weeks later, I had a Bumper sticker that said F@*$K terrorists on my car, and I went to see an Army recruiter.

I was interested and upset by the first plane. I thought it was an accident. When the second plane hit, Katie Couric or some other " bottle-headed bleach blonde " said that she saw a second explosion. I thought it was just something else from the first plane exploding. When they finally confirmed that it was another plane, I was frightened and confused.
Later on, when they talked about a plane going down in Pennsylvania, I thought that it was just a really "unlucky" day in the air. Only later did I learn of the brave souls who, knowing they were going to die, tried to save others! The fourth plane, at the Pentagon....I never really saw anything that confirmed to me that it WAS in fact a plane.
I had to work that day; I left before the buildings collapsed. I work for a major retailer. Evidently our store received some sort of threat, so we were told to leave. While we were trying to get customers and employees out, one customer in my department (women's shoes) kept shopping. All the while she was saying things like, "Now America will know what it's like to actually have some of the pain on their own soil." Very strange.....
There WAS a part of me that thought maybe we WERE just getting it back for some of the underhanded and deadly "tricks" we've played in the world, but, on the other hand, I knew that it was men, women and children dying --many of whom did NOT, nor had ever, agreed with our country's political stance in the world.
I could not understand why the WTC was the target, especially since it had been once before. Seemed like an "off the wall" choice to make any sort of political statement. (I mean, if you hate Western ways, ideas, "principles", "morals", mores, religions, fashions, etc., why not pick on L.A.???)
Even tho' I could sort of understand what goes thru' the heads of "terrorists"--on a cerebral basis--I was still in total shock. When the buildings fell, I couldn't believe it!!! They looked as if they were made of cardboard. That scared me so much, because it just seemed to show how transient and flimsy the things that we consider to be "solid" are. It made me wonder if I had ever done any "good" in my life, because that is the only thing that really matters--everything else crumbles like sand castles.
Watching the demise of so many human beings and such "indestructible" buildings, I kept thinking, "From dust to dust."
I feel terrible that the misdirected actions of a few radicals has been used to push a political agenda that was in existance long before 9/11. I am so sorry for what we are doing in Iraq, since Iraq had nothing to do with the planes.

It should never have happen. Our leadership failed us! This has happen before. Both parties are so busy play partisan politics, they failed to have any vision or what disaster tomorrow will bring. Pearl Harbor was another boggled situation. It should not have happen.
I sometime feel the powers to be wanted this to happen in order to stimulate the economy. Other countries have done this before. For example, Argentina invaded the some small islands. These island belonged to Great Britain. This started a war between these two countries. Peoples of Argentina gave up their jewelery and other precious belonging to support their war effort. This stimulated their economy and also takes the minds off a depressed country.

Got out of bed up flipped on the tube (which I never do) saw the 1st tower burning. I was up in them both in 81. Knowing that over 10000 people work in each one, I was sick. Talking on the phone to my wife told her to get to a tv when the second one hit. It was a surreal experience, you had to pinch yourself to realize this was really going on. Headed to fire station, passed my neighbore 'retired' ATF asked him if he was 'going' ,he knew what I was talking about told him to be carefull and I might see him there. When the off duty guys got to the station we had a truck packed with 6 guys gear ready to go to NY city. State fire marshell sent out a fax telling all to stand down and only come if called. Then the towers came down........ not pretty watching a bunch of 40 year old macho men cry like babies. I will NEVER forget the 343 and all they gave to save at least 20000 folks. (My high school principal was on the 1st plane that crashed).

I was at work and when the first one hit I thought it was an accident but once the second one hit I thought "This is it, someone is attacking us?" You never think it is going to happen in your lifetime or on your soil - maybe on someone else's but not yours. And I remember trying to make a phone call and getting the operator "we're sorry all circuits are currently busy please hang up and try your call again later" and thats when terror set in which eventually turned to anger.

Honestly my first reaction was "hey, what do you know, that's strange"
When the second plane hit, well, let's just say my thoughts can't be expressed here without violating Yahoo!'s prohibition on foul language.
Overall I was in shock. Later the shock faded, to be replaced by a mix of sadness and rage.

Even before the 2nd plane hit, I knew it was a terrorist act. I instantly recalled the 1993 WTC attack and remembered myself thinking then "they will try it again"

About 24 hours of pure rage, then exhaustion, then determination. I was so proud of our country during that time, I wish I could say the same now.
