x+y=8
x-y=-4
______
2x=4 (because +y and -y cancel out)
x=2
then plug 2 in for x in one of the equations
2+y=8
solve for y
y=6
ordered pair is (2, 6)

Add the second equation to the first,
2x = 4
x = 2
then substitute x back into either equation.
2 + y = 8
y = 6
A ordered pair is in the form (x,y), so the answer is (2,6)

x+y=8.......Eq 1
x-y=-4.......Eq 2
Consider Eq 1
x+y=8
x = 8 - y
Substitute the derived value of 'x' in Eq 2
x-y=-4
8 - y - y = -4
8 - 2y = -4
-2y = -4 - 8
-2y = -12
2y = 12
y = 12/2
y = 6
Substitute the value of 'y' in and equation.
I choose Eq 1
x+y=8
x + 6 = 8
x = 8-6
x = 2
The ordered pair is: (2,6)

x+y=8
x-y=-4

x=8-y
(8-y)-y=-4 <--- substitution
-2y=-4-8
-2y=-12
y=6
x+6=8
x=2

Answer is... (2,6)
