I lived in military housing in the south for 12 years... I know what I'm talking about. Boric acid is the only thing that really works, but you have to be consistent and bold and careful... kids and pets don't need to get into it. But clean everything well, then put a line about 1/4" thick around the base board behind everything that moves away from the wall. then in under the kitchen sink, and in the bathroom they go for water where ever they can find it. The best success I had was to also put it around the outside of the house with in about 5 feet of the doors and windows where they might get in. My brother has gone one step farther and put the spray foam in every nook and cranny in his place.. not one bug can get in unless it rides on top of his shoe.

To annoyed : 98% of wars in modern times are fought with allies. Why fight alone when you can have people help you? It makes no sense. I'll take allies and a greater chance of winning any day of the week. Korean war : No the United States did not get their butts kicked. The US managed to put a base on North Korean soil and they had by far the lowest amount of casualties out of the major countries involved involved in the conflict. How is this "getting their butt kicked"? Iraq War : The United States brought down the Saddam Regime and has the country relatively secure. have you not checked the death toll lately? It is at an all time low. There have been 43 deaths this year as opposed to the 800-900 per year from 2004-2007. Whether the war was right now is a whole different story but the US dominated in Iraq from a military standpoint. Afghanistan war : and you're judging a conflict that is still going on? I hate to break it to you bud but Britain is losing soldiers at an even higher rate than the United States and the US has the most troops in the country by far. The UK is losing troops at FOUR TIMES the rate of the US. So don't go acting like your military is dominating while also acting like the Yank's are getting demolished. This war is bad for everyone involved. WW2 : What is the point of this? Did you just forget about all of the work America did in the pacific? Let's not forget how they helped supply the allies. People really underestimate how much the US did from a logistics standpoint. It's true that they didn't do as much as the Russians but they were still an important part of the allied victory.

I read about an interesting homemade roach trap on the internet. Get a tall glass jar. Rub the inner walls with vaseline. Place some bait (food) inside the jar. Place the jar somewhere dark, like under a kitchen sink. Make little "ramps" or "walkways" out of cardboard or whatever leading from the ground to the top of the jar. The roaches will crawl up the ramps, go into the jar, and be unable to get out. Of course, then you'll have to empty the nasty thing.

I bought an infested home. And didn't have a professional available. That should be your first coarse to follow. BUT, if you can't then I will tell you what I did. The first time I used a can of OTC roach killer. Two weeks later, I had more. I sprayed again, but I really sprayed. I noticed that the egg sac would fall off the dying roaches. Within a week or so they were back, and the egg sacs were empty. So, I sprayed every day for 2 weeks. I don't know how much I poisoned myself, but it worked. I wet the surface of every nook and cranny. We never had any more problems again. I won! I think! That was 25 years ago.

Raid makes good bait traps but the most effective one is the spray, kills instantly. Make sure not to breath in sprays and clean them up right after.
If there's a nest and you know where it is, you can poor Borax or Boric acid in it. If it's real bad, you should consider getting an exterminator.

The baits work for me - but you can use foggers or whatever with them - no worries - just cover the baits when you fog. Boric acid doesn't work well if you have LOTS of bugs!

you will never win. They will takeover the Earth after we are all gone. Besides, they become ammune to that stuff, and they can always go to the next apartment until the smoke clears. Good luck, I have been at war with those suckers for years and I am now burning everything I own and moving to a roach free apt.

There's an awesome chemical called "Roach Pruf." I sprinkled it around the perimeter of my home, in cracks, under the sink, etc.. and it eliminated my problem. Also, keep your home exceptionally clean, empty all trash at night, sweep your floors regularly, and don't leave any food out. Anything that has been opened, goes into your fridge. Good luck!!

There is also this embalming thing that you can buy and it fumigates your room or apartment and kills all of the roaches and whatever other bugs there are. I tried it and it worked although I forget what it is exactly called. Also make sure you leave your apartment before your do this.
