I would try to wear him out- play with him, read to him, go for a walk, take a bath, etc... so he takes 1-2 good naps- our son was on the 2 one hour naps a day- he'd take one in the morning, and one in the afternoon.... now he's 13 months, and teething again, so his schedule is off- especially from the time change. But, he also sleeps from about 9:30pm (sometimes 10pm) to around 8am- it used to be 9am.
usually they are good about letting you know when they need to sleep and get on a routine themselves, but sometimes things like teething can throw it off.

I was a bit more anal about sleeping with my kids. As infants they were in bed by 7:30 - 8:00 pm and didn't get up until 7 -8 am. At eight months they both did 2 naps a day for about an hour or two - occasionally more. I think your baby is taking 3 naps in the day time because he is up so late in the evening.
Once my kids were close to a year I worked them into one nap in the afternoon and they both did that until they were between 3 & 4 years old.

good luck "extending" the naps. and every child is different. some children quit taking naps at 12 months! ultimately, if it works for you, i would let your son control his schedule as much as possible. he knows what his body needs and at this age, he isn't very likely to be deifiant towards naptime or bedtime.
you could try putting him down earlier at night. more than likely he'll still seep until 8am and that may change his pattern a bit in the day where he won't need that last short nap. or "put off" that last nap as late as possible until it turns into a new bedtime.

My daughter went to bed at 8pm woke at 7am took first nap at 10am for an hour then a second nap at 5pm then back to bed at 8pm. All babies are different. We all have different routines and lives. Some babies are more active than others and cause them to be more tired. Do what works best for you and baby, not what sounds best.

that is about right. I would not suggest making him do anything. He is getting sleep, so that is good, as long as he is eating good then everything is fine. He will go threw growth spurts also that will cause his naps to go longer sometimes. normal

He sounds like hes getting plenty of rest. If he is showing more signs of crankiness I would check for dicomforts before trying to get him to lay down again.

Mother of 5 here....kids know when they are tired. As long as it doesn't impair his ability to sleep at night, let him rest. Kids sleep more when they are going through growth spirts.

That seems about right. Just let him sleep for as long as he wants until he wakes up.

it seems fine. dont force him to take naps, it will only frustrate both of you. with my daughter i only put her down for a nap if she seems cranky.
