It's quite common knowledge that thank you letters/cards after an interview is good etiquette. However, does it matter HOW you send it to them? Is text messaging a thank you letter to your hiring manager okay to do?

Text Messaging will be okay for a person (your boss) If that person has a mind broad enough to understand the busy schedules and work of his people.

It is always the best way of sending a thankyou to a friend or a person you know personally, and has a good relation with. But if it is someone like your boss, I would advice you to e-mail him. He might spend more time on a computer. He may also have calls arriving any minute or so, and wont notice a beep of an sms. His mobile provider or he himself may have disabled texting, he maynot even know where to find messaging (believe me, my uncle cant even answer a call on a nokia N series, and he is an Engg!)

Email, Letter, or that message thingy you pass around cubicles will do. SmS is kinda disrespectful(that depends on what kinda person he is).

NO! If anything try to call them later and leave a message. That looks very tacky. I worked with a guy that text messaged from work all the time and he is the reason they banned cell phones at work.

Text messaging costs them money and shows laziness on your part. I would send a paper thank you.

If it is some high-tech computer company, than MAYBE.
In the real world, hand-written thank you notes are NECESSARY and very professional.

Good luck (and don't text-message them!)

That sound really tacky and annoying to me,Unless you applied for a job as a cell phone salesman and you want to impress someone with your skills.

sure. depending on the guidance you've given me, i believe that this guy likes you. you may want to textual content him and commence the convo back to confirm if it really is the guy that you quite want.
