If your first cousin has the baby the baby is your first cousin - once removed. If that baby has a baby it's a first cousin - twice removed. If you have a baby, your baby and the cousin's baby are second cousins. Make sense? 1st, 2nd, 3rd cousins, etc. are used to denote the degree of shared relatives (i.e. first cousins share the same grandparents, 2nd share great grandparents, 3rd share great-great-grandparents.) While the word removed indicates a generational difference, for example you and your first cousin are in the same generation but her baby is not so the baby is your first cousin once removed.

If your brother or sisters kid (which makes their kids your FIRST cousin) had a baby, then that baby would be your second cousin. If your second cousin had a baby, that would be your third cousin. If your third cousin had a baby, that would make that your fourth cousin, and so on and so on.

Siblings proportion parents Cousins proportion grandparents 2d cousins proportion greatgrandparents the baby of your cousin is a everyday cousin as quickly as got rid of. The as quickly as got rid of refers to a minimum of one step faraway from the comparable generational point. in case you have a baby, your baby and your cousin's baby would be 2d cousins. you could verify this on any variety of geneological sites.
