I have my political views, but at work I keep them to myself. But several co-workers feel it acceptable to insert politics into most (if not all) conversations. One even put up different monkey faces of George W Bush, while another put up a picture mocking John Kerry for his recent screw-up about the troops being stuck in Iraq.

Don't you think these things should be left out of the workplace? It's hard enough to get along at work as it is!

David - being a member of the ACLU, I hardly support censorship...what I was asking was an etiquette/get along question rather than a free speech question.

I think it should be allowed. But I also think an employer should be able to fire people based on their political beliefs and statements.

For example, suppose you hire a guy and he turns out to be a Marxist? Next thing you know, he will be trying to "organize the workers" and condeming capitalism. Time to fire his azz!

I agree. Politics and religion are the two topics that should be kept out of work.
