I think he has been punished by being shown to all as one of the people that he spent years preaching against. The closest thing to punishment I would like to see is for him to realize the harm he has done with his words demonizing gay people.

The loss of power, reputation, position & income have all been far greater than whatever comes next. Everyone is a human being - when one of the people who pretends they are above it all is shown to be the same as the rest of us, what's the point of pointing a finger & laughing?
Think about it.

The loss of control and power of his political and religious establishment will prove to be quite a punishment. Besides, it seems some of the accusations are not concrete, despite his pathetic admission.

You want to punish someone for having gay sex? Isn't that a little counterproductive. What if we punished Everyone for having gay sex?

I believe having to face his family, is plenty.
Its nice to see that you liberals have finally admitted to your hatred for gays by suggesting that they be punished, hell its not enough that you work hard to force them out of the closet, but now your actually seeking suggestions for punishment.
Whats next, Assaulting Black Republicans,,,OH WAIT,, you already do that.
