If you are hearing squealing after a pad replacement, the rotors may be polished and in need of resurfacing. If the surface of the rotors are grooved and shiny like a mirror, that is the cause of the squeal.

Before looking into the rotors, check and see what kind of pads you purchased. I've had this problem before when I bought cheaper brake pads, like the cheapest ones at Auto Zone. The real cheap brake pads wear down quicker and thus create more brake dust. There are a few products out there that can reduce this annoyance. First, there is a resin that you put on the back of the pads (NOT on the braking surface) that aids in damping the braking vibrations. You can find this at any auto parts store. Also, I have heard of a powder that you can apply directly to the brake pads that will help stop the squeaking. I have never seen this product in any auto parts store, but have been told it is available on the internet. Best thing to do is break down and buy the more expensive ceramic pads in the future. If you did buy ceramic pads, then it is probably your rotor. Hope this helps & good luck.

Most affordable brake pads are made of semi-metallic material because it is cheaper but still provides good stopping power. If the brake pads and other braking components have been properly put back together then you are fine if you can deal with the noise. You can also choose other more expensive brake pads usually the ceramic brake pads for a more quieter stop if you want. Good luck.

In most cases, the brakes will squeak if you replace your brake pads and did not resurface the brake discs. Another scenerio is if you have a foreign car, it is best to have parts from original manufacturer (O.E.), or the equivilent to it. I believe brakes are the most important part of your vehicle. Don't compromise that by taking short cuts or by using inexpensive parts. Your life depends on it.

Some brake pads are metallic and will squeal when the brakes are applied.
Did you have front and back replaced? If NOT, then perhaps the opposite end is worn out also. Good luck. Pops
