Yep you are off to a good start. Here is my standard answer for you youngsters who want some good advice: Tons of whole grains, rice, oats, whole grain breads, yes these seem fattening, but the cleanse your system, lower cholesterol, rid fat, and make you feel fuller. Lots of fresh (raw or steamed if you can) veggies, and all fruits that you like. You know hun, I have studied nutrition and natural healing and have been through nursing school, and the one thing people always think of as bad is sugar, but guess what, there is not much wrong with sugar at all if you buy the kind that is not white/refined, buy the turbino sugar or sugar in the raw i think its called, just don't pork out on sugary things thats all.... Also drinking lots n lots of water not only helps make you feel fuller, it flushes toxins from your body and plumps up your skin making you prettier. If you like pasta that is fine, just switch to whole grain pasta, it is healthier. Stay away from heavy cream sauces and too much butter. Forget fake sweeteners, your body doesn't recognise them as real food and stores them as toxins in your fat cells, ugh. Honey, raw sugar, rice syrup, maple syrup, are all good. Toss soda pop into the garbage where it belongs, drink your water with a twist of lemon or lime for flavor, it will grow on ya, lol. There are a million of online sites with healthy recipes, i would recommend vegetarian sites even if you eat meat because eating a meatless meal everyonece in awhile will be healthy and give your system a rest. If you get hungry for chocolate, you can make carob cookies, or just eat a small square of chocolate don't deny yourself of anything you love, just use a luncheon size plate and don't overdo your portions. Switching to rice or soy milk will save you fat calories and give you protein. I know you can make healthy changes, just do them slowly and before you know it you will shed some pounds and feel so much better.. Make sure you get fresh air, a little sun (20 minutes a day), and exercise. Just do what you think if fun, even if its a short walk around the block after dinner to rev up your metabolism. Don't go on a DIET, please. Just make healthy life choices. I wish you luck!
