I have no lease, the landlord and I came to an agreement, and he is still trying to pursue.

If you do not have a lease, but you paid the agreed upon monthly rent, he cannot evict you. If you did not pay, then your agreement may be meaningless.

You need to have a canceled check. Essentially you need proof that the landlord cashed the check. That will serve as proof that you paid for the month.
