It severely messes up their ability to trust. As adults, they often never trust. They say love, love, love, but never trust the other person. This causes very difficult situations for their future partners.

Its not possible to predict personality traits of children abandoned later in their lives. They will already have developed personality traits which will be a major factor in how they deal with the abandonment, how resilient they will be, etc. One thing is for sure though, that abandonment is never a good thing in anyone's life, child or adult. In general, children who have been abandoned have issues with trust and struggle to develop new relationships. They may become defiant in their behaviour, and reject adult norms and values.

Horrible what they go through and it doesn't end with childhood, it goes on into adult years and the hurt and heartbreak seems to never end. They also never have the relationship with the parent that left that they could have had, they just never trust again. They also never trust anyone and they become suspicious and bitter adults. They are somewhat hard on their own children because of their reluctance or inability to give love. That child as an adult will try and get back at the parent, the relationship will be one of revenge.

lets see maybe having abandonment issues and some emotional issues but also probley not high respect for the parent or ability to bond with other adults and trust people very much! I can say well I have no relationship or bond with my father because he had "more important" things to do .It has also made me make sure I love and give my kids plenty of attention so they don't share those feelings i went through

There's no possible way to predict the future in such a situation. Children react differently. Some are stronger than others. I can guarantee you that the pain they'll suffer will be real. And I can only hope that there will be at least one trustworthy, loving, stable, kind parent who remains.

I am raising a 15 year old grandson who's Mother has never been around( drugs and stuff). He has refused to speak to her for 2 or 3 years and he went into a major depression and it effected him mentally and physically as well. He is a very good kid but there is alot of anger that we are trying to work out. We just have to find out where are the anger belongs.

they will grow up bitter, hard to let them feel that they are loved in the future. they will not believe it, since their parents left them anyway, feels like that their parents dont love them why would others?
